Prairie View A&M University Veterinary Treatment Facility

Broaddus Planning completed development of a Program of Requirements for a new Veterinary Surgical Facility focused on animal research at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU). The program established a state-of-the-art treatment facility that increases surgical capabilities while expanding the research initiatives of the International Goat Research Facility (IGRC). Project improvements include the separation of animal prep and recovery, provision for a state-of-the-art surgical room and increased overall functionality relative to the current facility.

Among the creative solutions included in the program was repurposing vacant buildings and rehabilitating the loafing barns rather than invest in new construction to achieve the project scope while adhering to the budget. Linkage to the adjacent barns provides direct access into the new facility and includes upgrades to the existing barn facilities to provide inclement weather enclosures and improve the durability and workability of managing the 400- goat population feeding and care.
