Seton Medical Center Programming Services

Broaddus Planning was retained to prepare a planning study for a major facilities expansion for Seton Medical Center (SMC), and a long-range master plan for its future facilities improvements. The intent of the plan was to outline the specific parameters of an immediate building expansion at SMC, while at the same time providing a plan with maximum potential to accommodate future changes in protocol and facilities needs within the hospital. The recommended plan for the hospital includes a vertical expansion encompassing the area currently utilized as private parking. This solution allows for necessary expansion of the Cardiology Department and other medical surgery beds, and provides a dedicated vehicular passenger drop-off at the first floor level.

The plan also provides maximum flexibility for future enhancements and expansion within the hospital. Including future build-out of the NICU, the project encompasses 143,136 SF of renovation and new construction. The SMC Master Facility Plan accommodates the specific near-term projects in a prioritized implementation plan, as well as the long-range strategic and departmental projections of the hospital. The team worked in close collaboration with the SMC senior administration, Seton Network Facilities, Seton Network Planning, Network Real Estate and an associated long-term tenant on Seton property to prepare a comprehensive plan for future growth.
