UTHealth Continuum of Care

With a focus on improving the outcome of behavioral health treatment, Broaddus Planning was engaged to assist with a vision to provide a new approach for the continuum of care of patients for UTHealth. This new facility, dedicated to the citizens of Houston, Harris County, the State of Texas and the UT Health System seeks to develop a collaborative approach of care. The UT Health Continuum of Care Campus seeks the development of a new model of inpatient health and recovery treatment. The intent of the model is to provide a patient-centric, welcoming and nurturing environment for daily living that promotes positive patient recovery opportunities within an open and fluid environment which more replicates the real life that will be encountered after discharge. The facility will provide for patients in crisis, the effective treatment of their condition, and gradually stage their progress through the behavioral health facility until they are able to re-join the community.

This facility includes distinct components of Assessment, Crisis Intake, Inpatient Treatment, Residential Treatment and Residential Independent Living to address the full continuum of care for behavioral health patients. There will be a total of 132 Inpatient bed positions organized in 12 to 24 bed modular units supported by a full host of logistical and daily living amenities. There will be 96 Residential Treatment Facility beds also arranged in modular units of anywhere from 12 to 24 bed units. An Outpatient Assessment Center is included, as well as, a Community Conference Center to not only serve the patient population, but also provide community educational and assessment programs.
